Accelerated Individualized Mastery (AIM)
AIM programs provide a solution for students who are struggling with foundational math skills. AIM provides:
- Tools to determine fact mastery
- Clarity for the instructor
- Respect for the maturity level of the student
- Focused and frequent practice for fact retention
- An accelerated process
- Flexibility to adapt to the student’s pace of mastery
Accelerated
Students move quickly through a skill set they have not yet mastered without extra distractions.
Individualized
Each student is different and so are their learning preferences. Using as many approaches as possible, the program creates an environment for a student to master the skills they still need at their own pace.
Mastery
In this program, mastery means that a student can recall all the math facts using as little mental energy as possible to remain engaged in the process of problem-solving.
How It Works
The AIM programs replace inefficient methods and processes (such as counting or tallying) with more effective strategies based on number relationships and reasoning. These strategies provide solid conceptual understanding and allow facts to be stored in long-term visual memory for quick retrieval. Successful completion of an AIM program helps restore students’ confidence and provides them with the necessary skills to solve more complex problems.
