Math at the Barn

Cassie wrote and shared this story and picture with us,

Thank you for your amazing program!  Math-U-See has helped my son Luke see the “why” in math and he enjoys it so much! Here he is taking a test at the barn while his sister rides.  I thought you might enjoy seeing one of “your students” at work in a hay loft.

Any thoughts on a good caption?  :)

Interestingly enough isn’t our corporate headquarters out of a barn? Coincidence? I think not… Maybe this is the best way to do math?

“Okay, Question 4…’If there are 270,499 hay straws in your haybale and you have to divide the bale into 7 equal portions, how many hay straws will be in each portion, rounded to the nearest whole number?’

“Hm…extra credit question…’If your sister’s horse eats one portion, how many portions are left?’ “

Ok, now what did the bald guy say about reversing denominators, or was it the numerator?

I’m thinking of making the switch to MUS. My girl going into 5th grade will work on mastering her division this summer and go into Epsilon in the fall. How easy/hard is the transition if we have not used MUS yet?
