Math-UK-See

A few days ago my dad returned from the U.K. where he had (among other things) given a Math-U-See demonstration to a group of homeschoolers in the United Kingdom. He also met with our new U.K. representative Deborah Jenkins. You may know her from her blog which I posted a portion of here.

Here are some pictures.

A live Demme-stration :-)

Several of the attendees knew each other via each other’s blogs and this was the first time they had met in person.

Learn the Greek Alphabet in 10 minutes

Did you ever wonder why the Math-U-See books are named after the Greek alphabet? Well wonder no further as you watch this video of my dad teaching the Greek alphabet.

If you cannot view the YouTube video click here

He is a man of many talents :-) He is currently in England speaking at a family camp. And if you haven’t visited recently you should check out Steve’s Blog.

So which was your favorite Greek letter?
(mine is “Ooopsilon”) :-)

Summer Activities

It’s hot outside and that means it’s summer. With summer comes the question all homeschoolers and educators ask… Will my students forget everything they have learned? Should I review? Should I school year round?

I remember back to summers in my younger days. We didn’t do any schoolwork but we were still learning. We visited historical sites, learned about nature, visited state parks, learned about the stars at night, oh and my dad had us do some math review during the summer :-)

Summer learning
All grown up and still learning :-)

What are your summer plans? Are you going to teach all the way through, review occasionally, just have fun or a combination. Leave a comment and lets us know.
