Steve at CHEA

This weekend Steve Demme (a.k.a. pop) was in California at the Bay AreaCHEA convention. Jenny, A Math-U-Fan, sent us this report and some fun pictures.

“I just came home from the Bay Area CHEA convention (California). I was so excited to meet your dad and even had my sister take a picture of me with him (notice the bunny ears). I picked up the skip counting CD, and he signed the songbook for my kids. They were so excited when I got home and wished they could have met him too.”

“Anyway, big thanks to you and everyone who makes it possible for us to use this program! It’s such a blessing to be able to watch the videos with my kids and see them really getting it. My 9yr old is now excited about math, and we’re not fighting anymore!”

Happy Kids
Here they are with the signed songbook

To see where Steve will be next check out the “Events” page on the MUS website.

Have you ever met Steve at a convention?

My husband and I met him at MACHE (Minnesota) a few weeks ago. He told us a joke about pirates.

    Hi Ethan,
Thanks for visiting my blog today. You’re the first “famous” person ever (Aw c’mon now, we homeschoolers sure think so). Anyway, a few Steve Demme funnies.

Last year (2006 IAHE convention), my then 6yo dd was soooo disappointed because “I didn’t get to meet my math teacher.” She attended the convention with me for that purpose only, but we never ran into your dad. Sadly, this year I was too sick to attend so no chance again. One of these days though…..

My 5yo ds sometimes confuses Sesame Street and Decimal Street. I’ll ask him to go grab the Decimal Street prop and he’ll come back with it saying, “Here it is. I got Sesamal Street for you, Momma.”

We go around the house singing the following words to Frank Sinatra’s “If you knew Susie.”
He’s Mr. Demme. He’s no dummy. He’s a really great, great guy. ;)
    Blessings,
    ~Toni~
(who is working through Beta with her 7yo and Primer with her 5yo).

I met Mr. Demme for the first time just a few weeks ago when I traveled from my home in Oklahoma to Kansas City for the Midwest Parent Educators’ Convention. I spoke with him on a couple of occasions and we agreed that we are both blessed to be parenting children with special needs.

We are all Math-U-Fans from 1997, and I’m now teaching in Epsilon, Gamma and Primer.
