If so you are not alone. The market for used materials is vibrant in the homeschool world. I was on one auction site recently and saw a, used old classic edition with VHS tapes being auctioned for over 120 dollars! The seller had it labeled as a collectible I’ve even see the free demo DVD’s be sold for several dollars.
Because of those and other examples of auction misuses we have created a buyers and sellers guide, to provide you with valuable information to make the process run more smoothly and allow you to get the best deal possible.

This is a great idea! Just hope MUS users take note. I sold Primer on “that auction site” and it got bid up so high that it sold for more than it costs new. What are people thinking??
I was lucky to see a demonstration of this excellent learning tool at one of the National Home Education Conferences held in Australia last year.
Families new to homeschooling are eager to buy whatever curriculum materials they can find in the first few months and unfortunately often regret hasty decisions. It’s great to see strong and vibrant homeschooling networks continually expanding, offering advice and information to new homeschooling families, but even more encouraging is the growing number of educational suppliers that are specifically catering to this learning hungry crowd!
I always check out the new price of anything before I buy secondhand and offer this advice to anyone that wants to listen. Unless one is buying something for its historic value there is little sense in paying more than new price!

Have the sing-a-long tapes changed in the last few years? I loved the words and concept, but I gotta say the kids singing and the tunes were unpleasant to listen to. That would be another area to upgrade, may the Cedarmont kids are available.
Why would they want to sell used books on the same website that sells brand new material? You make no sense. The man is here to make a living; he can’t make a living if you sell your used material - he would go out of business real quick and then there would be no more math-u-see at all available anywhere. All because you wanted to save a penny. You would ruin the children from learning and they would not be able to learn just because you are cheap and don’t want to pay full price. These books/DVD’s are very affordable for what you learn. The man does a nice job in the DVD’s at explaining math in an easy to understand format.
You can buy used Math-u-see material on ebay or amazon. Go there and buy it.
I understand that Mr.Demme is in business for himself, and needs to make a living. However, I am a homeschooling mother of 5 and cannot afford the very high prices for this and other very good curriculums brand new. So it’s not that we are to cheap to pay full price, it’s a matter of budgeting and trying to get a quality education for my children. I am greatful that they have offered the old classic editons for as long as they have. It helps when I am able to get a great deal on used books and or videos to complete the levels. How about you Mrs. Brown, wouldn’t you like to get a little money back on your investment and resale your used curriculum? Or maybe you will just give it away or donate it, it’s too good to throw away! So how do you dispose of your old curriculum?

Not everyone comes from an income level sufficient to purchase the products at the new price. It does not bode well for Mr. Demme’s awesome product to bash those whose only means of obtaining Mr. Demme’s materials is to purchase used curriculum.
Additionally, don’t underestimate the power of word of mouth. There is a limited supply of used materials, and not everybody will be able to find used curriculum; some will have to purchase it new. Don’t underestimate how much business Mr. Demme might receive from those of us who spread by word of mouth the value in the Math U See products, though we are not able to purchase the products at their new prices. Though we may not be new business directly to Mr. Demme’s products, we may very well be creating new business for him.
From a completely separate perspective, re-selling violates no copyright infringement laws nor any other laws. It is inappropriate to put other people down for doing something that is perfectly legal.
