The Dog Days of Math

Lori from VA sent us this picture,

The story goes, “My fourth (and last) son, Byron, is doing MUS this year, in Alpha. As he was building some problems from his worksheet, our dog, Kipper, just suddenly decided to “participate” and sat right down on Decimal Street. At first Byron was upset that Kipper was ruining his math, but I teasingly scolded Byron, saying, “Hey, that’s cheating! You can’t ask Kipper for help with your problems!”

Thanks for the picture Lori and have fun learning math!

Which house should Kipper stay in when he visits Decimal Street?

Math-U-See Rep Highlight

Math-U-See works with regional representatives to meet the needs of the customers. The reps travel to homeschool conventions, answer questions relating to using Math-U-See and they handle the individual product orders for their specific region.

Today’s Rep highlight is Jacki Knight from Alberta Canada.

Jacki is married to Richard and they have homeschooled their children since 1989, though they have all graduated. Jacki remarked that, “it seems like discipling continues no matter what age your children are :-)” Their children are, Jeremy (married to Beth-Ann), Jeffrey (married to Christa with one baby on the way), and Christal. The children help out with Math-U-See during conference season and sometimes in the shipping and receiving department.

From left to right, Christal, Jeremy and Christa, Beth-Ann and Jeffrey, Jacki and Richard.
They have been working with Math-U-See since 1993 and cover the entire country of Canada eh?

We asked them these questions,
Q. - How did you first come in contact with Math-U-See?

A. - We were looking for a math program for our children that would teach us the “how’s” and “why’s” building a solid foundation that would enable them to apply the concepts in everyday life. At the time Jacki was a KONOS rep and at the Rep conference she was introduced to Math-U-See - after trying seven different programs Math-U-See met each of our expectations and goals.

Q. - Describe your first meeting with Steve?

A. - Oh my goodness! How about we describe Steve rather then the first meeting.
He is a man of passion, fun loving, dedicated, loyal, generous - I love his sense of humor - the twinkle in his eye when he is going to be mischievous and the way he sees the goodness in every person he comes in contact with!
Thank you Steve for the honor of working with a man such as you!

Q. - What do you like best about working with Math-U-See?

A. - Seeing families successful and children equipped with tools that will last a lifetime. I love the Math-U-See family too!

Q. - Do you like cheese?

A. - Yes absolutely! Every kind they make!

Q. - Give one fun memory of your time with MUS

A. - We have so many memories but the one that we laugh about the most would probably be the year that we got our dates for the rep conference mixed up and came a week early! It was a great time of fellowship with the Demme clan, laying sod, playing Frisbee golf, relaxing at the pool, riding in a buggy, watching home movies … Missing the fellowship with the Math-U-See family - that was not funny.

Any Canadian Math-U-See users out there? Leave a comment saying what YOU like about the Knights!

In need of a caption…

Teresa from GA sent us in this picture,

“Here is my 6 yr old son (using Alpha) while waiting to do Math U See with me.”

It looks to me like he has created a giant throne, with a trapdoor below that leads directly to the alligator pit, but perhaps that is just my over active imagination :-)

Teresa also mentioned that he has a block gun! :-)

Another happy, and talented, Math-U-See user/builder.

I need help coming up with a caption for this picture, what caption would YOU use?!?

If you have a picture of a block creation send it in and we will post it :-)

Happy Building!

Math Poetry

MATH GIRL
She puts two dots
above the U
on every page of Math-U-See.
Scrupulous, with rigor,
before she starts to figure,
she has to give each smiley face its eyes.

We recently recieved this bit of poetry from one the Math-U-See family (someone who uses Math-U-See) if you have any poetry or a fun idea let me know via email.
