Weekly Wednesday Word Problem

Joseph and Aaron were driving from Dayton to Chattanooga and they took separate cars. The distance traveled was 39 miles and the speed limit is an average of 55 miles per hour.  Aaron likes to drive faster and went 10 mph over the speed limit. Joseph, being the safe driver went the speed limit the whole way.  Aaron arrived first but how long did he have to wait for Joseph to arrive?

Bonus question:  Was driving 10mph over the speed limit really worth it?

OneWebDay

Happy One Web Day!

OneWebDay is a day when users of the world wide web are encouraged to show how the internet affects their lives. The purpose of the event is to globally celebrate online life.*

I take this to highlight how the internet has affected Math-U-See. The first official MUS website entered the world wide arena in 1999 And was nothing more than an overview brochure page. Since then Math-U-See’s presence on the web has grown considerably to include: online ordering, curriculum and materials overview, online drills, and a mathusee blog :-)

Weekly Wednesday Word Problem

Sarah had an idea, what would happen if you put a golf ball inside a basketball? How much room would there be inside the basketball afterwards. Her golf ball has a radius of 1.68 inches while her basketball has a diameter of 9.4 inches. How much space will be left over after the golf ball is placed inside the basketball?

Math-U-See Users who Blog!

I was blog browsing the other day and ran across this “spiffy” blog.

The blog owner is a, “thirty-something, born again, wife to the Man, homeschooling mom, avid scrapbooker, collector of Bears, shopper” (taken from her blog)

She is currently using Math-U-See with her 14 year old son and 13 year old daughter.

Spiffy blog is a montage of her daily life. Her diverse topics include, finances, homeschooling, scrapbooking and snarkenfraggle.

It’s always fun to find Math-U-See users who blog, if you are a Math-U-See user and a blogger let me know and I’ll see you around the blogsphere.

News Update

Due to the switching over of the Math-U-See website to new servers, some of the recent posts were deleted. Thanks for your patience and we will be back to the full swing of things shortly.
