Weekly Wednesday Word Problem…

Q. Why do we teach math?

The answer to that any user of Math-U-See can quote verbatim.

A. To Do Word Problems!

So Wednesday will henceforth be the day designated for the illustrious “word problem” the reason for learning math. Are you ready?

Here we go…

George had 17 ripe mangos for sale at his farm stand alongside the road. 12 people visited the farm stand that day. 1/3 of the people bought 2 mangos. 1/4 of the visitors bought 1 mango. At the end of the day George took the rest of the mangos home to his daughters. Each daughter ate 1/2 a mango and George at one as well. At the end of the day all the mangos were bought or eaten… How many daughters does George have?

There you go, do the math and leave your answers in the comment section.
